No Gunners talks for Montolivo
Riccardo Montolivo's agent has confirmed that several clubs are interested in the midfielder but denied holding talks with Arsenal.
Reports suggested that the Gunners had opened negotiations with Fiorentina about a possible move for the 25-year-old as they look to build a side capable of challenging for the Premiership title once again.
Montolivo was one of only a few members of the Italian side to do himself justice at the World Cup as the Azzurri were sent packing in the group stage after a woeful campaign.
The former Atalanta star's stock has therefore risen over the past few weeks and his agent, Giovanni Branchini, admitted there is plenty of interest in his client - but not yet from Arsene Wenger.
"It's not ridiculous that Arsenal are looking at Montolivo," he told Violanews.com. "In fact there is very strong interest from clubs more famous than Arsenal.
"One thing I will say and that is official negotiations are not ongoing. A good World Cup has increased interest in Montolivo, but to say that we are close to reaching an agreement is absurd."
Arsenal are looking to bring in a few new faces to strengthen their squad after yet another fruitless campaign and punters looking to use a free bet might want to back a side clearly intent on recapturing past glories next term.
