The Sunday papers usually provide us with lots of Arsenal transfer rumours, and today is no exception. It is now widely assumed that we will finally have an official announcement about Koscielny tomorrow. If not then I will be officially worried!
Todays crazy rumour comes courtesy of TuttoSport in Italy, who are suggesting that Juventus will be happy for the Brazilian hardman Felipe Melo to come to the Emirates, but are looking to get Gael Clichy in exchange! Yes I can see Wenger considering making a move for Melo, as he has already registered his interest in public, but there is not a chance in hell that Wenger would let yet another defender leave this summer…..
Thomas Rosicky has been rumoured to be on his way out of Arsenal this transfer window, along with Eduardo, and apparently he would be allowed to leave to make way for Joe Cole. This is extremely unlikely to happen of course. I have already explained why I think Joe Cole will be going to Spurs, and it is public knowledge that Wenger gave Rosicky a new contract in January. He is hardly going to sell him now is he?
Besides that, Rosicky’s agent, Pavel Paska, said yesterday: “There has been interest in Tomas, but his priority remains with Arsenal.” I think we can safely assume he will be staying then….
The Italian international midfielder Ricardo Montolivo is one of the few Italians that performed well in South Africa, and he has also been linked with a move to the Emirates. Last night his agent said that it wouldn’t be a surprise, but there has been no official talks between Arsenal and Fiorentina.
The agent, Giovanni Branchini, said: “It’s not ridiculous that Arsenal are looking at Montolivo,”
“In fact there is very strong interest from clubs more famous than Arsenal.
“One thing I will say, and that is that official negotiations are not ongoing.
“A good World Cup has increased interest in Montolivo, but to say that we are close to reaching an agreement is absurd.”
Okay but he doesn’t say that Arsenal haven’t made an unofficial approach…..
An even better performance at the World Cup was from the Germany and Stuttgart midfielder Sami Khedira, and with just 12 months remaining on his contract, he is sure to be in demand. Wenger has been reported to be among his admirers, and the Stuttgart coach, Christian Gross, has admitted that he Khedira may have to leave. He said: “If Khedira has more great games then there will be big clubs from Spain and England approaching and then all parties will need to think over their position.
“I would not like to see Sami leaving us on a Bosman transfer in twelve months.”
Maybe Wenger will persuade him to ‘do a Chamakh’ and run down his contract so he can join Arsenal for free next summer? He is only 23 so that would certainly be a brilliant move……From justarsenal.com
