At last Arsenal fans can forget about signing Schwarzer!

It has been rumoured that Arsenal have been close to signing Mark Schwarzer since the second the transfer window opened, and it has been relentless ever since. The thing is; there has not been one shred of evidence to support it, even though it was once said that he had even been to the Emirates twice for medical examinations!

When Roy Hodgson accepted the job at Liverpool, it only helped to increase the rumours that Schwarzer would leave Fulham, but at last his replacement has been announced, and the incoming Mark Hughes has now made his first proclamation, and that is that Schwarzer is not for sale! Hallelujah!

Hughes said: “There is always interest in quality players and it is not my intention to allow the better players to leave Fulham.

“There was a conversation with Schwarzer some time ago but I have only just come through the door and will have to refresh myself about the conversations that happened.

“But we want to resolve the situation as soon as possible but we are not in the position of letting our best players leave and Mark falls into that category.”

So can we all just face the fact that Wenger will be choosing between the four keepers that he already has on the books? And considering that Almunia and Fabianski were the two that were used in the Emirates Cup, I would imagine that it likely to be between them again in the coming season…..
