Arsenal and Tottenham fighting over young England star

It is being reported today that both Arsenal and Tottenham have joined in a bidding war for the young Ipswich and England striker Connor Wickham.

The Mail reports that Spurs have increased their bid for Wickham from £5 to £8m as they try to fight off interest from the Gunners.

The talented 17 year-old was the star for the England team when they won the European Under 17 championship in May, scoring twice in the semi-final and once in the Final as England won the competition.

Ipswich are collapsing under their £50m debt and coach Roy Keane knows that he will have to cash in on the star youngster if he is to have any cash to invest in bringing players in this summer, so he is playing the two London clubs against each other.

Would Wenger go as high as £10m for a 17 year-old?
