Laurent Koscielny reveals desire for Arsenal move

Arsenal have taken a significant step forward in their pursuit of Laurent Koscielny after the Lorient centre-back publicly declared his desire to join Arsene Wenger’s team.

Two bids have already been made for Koscielny, who is likely to come in as a direct replacement for William Gallas, with the clubs now moving close to Lorient’s valuation of around £9 million.

Wenger is also interested in England midfielder Joe Cole and Australia goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer, but those two deals are now unlikely to progress until after their involvement in the World Cup.

“It is difficult to not listen to someone like Arsene Wenger when he is attracted,” said Stephane Canard, Koscielny’s agent. "He recently called his chairman and coach to tell them he absolutely wants to join Arsenal.
