Jose Mourinho: No, Arsenal will not win the title this year

New Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho believes Arsenal are still not ready to fight for the Premier League title as he tips Manchester United, Manchester City and Chelsea to be contenders.

Speaking to Sky Sports News HD, the Inter Milan hat-trick hero believes it is always the same story with Arsenal where it looks like they can get back to winning terms but at the end of the day they just have to accept defeat. Mourinho also added how the “young” squad of Arsenal is no longer that young, most likely referring to the likes of Bacary Sagna, Andrey Arshavin and Gael Clichy.

The Portuguese believes it’s time for the Gunners to deliver as many of their players are reaching a stage in their career where winning is a must although he added how they will not do this year.

Mourinho, who also believes Liverpool are not in the frame to win the title, concluded by saying how Manchester United and Chelsea – the “usual suspects” – will fight for the title, with Manchester City joining the group as he described them as a “great squad”.

He said:

Arsenal too, year after year it looks likely – but no.

Always the same type of comment, ‘it’s a young team, we’ll be next season’. I remember we (Chelsea) played them in the Carling Cup semi-final with a team of young boys.

But the team of young boys is no longer the team of young boys. In this moment they are a team that are 25, 26, 27 years old.

(Cesc) Fabregas, (Theo) Walcott, (Gael) Clichy, (Alex) Song, (Bacary) Sagna. They are not a team of kids anymore, they are the team at the age to win things.

But I don’t think they will do it, I think it will be again Man United and Chelsea, and of course Man City because they have a great squad.
