Arsenal v Celtic highlights – Gunners win Emirates Cup 3-2

Arsene Wenger is still waiting for a few of his senior midfielders to return (especially Cesc Fabregas), but the youngsters Jack Wilshere and Emmanuel Frimpong did well enough as cover.

Vela scored right at the start, and when Sagna made it 2-0 just before half-time it looked a clearcut win for Arsenal, and even more so when Nasri made it three.

But like against Milan, the young Gunners seemed to tire in the last 20 minutes, and conceded twice before the end. And if Samaras hadn’t missed a penalty it could have ended a draw!

Overall though, Wenger was pleased with the weekend’s work: “I believe it was similar for 70 minutes, we played very well. In the last 20 we collapsed a bit physically and you could see that not everybody had the 90 minutes in their legs. But I’m pleased with the two days because we had good opponents – teams who did not give up. I have seen what I wanted to see; the two new players can fit in well and I am pleased with the fact that the young players who played in the two games have done really well. You will be pleased with the fact that they are English, so we are all happy!”

Lets hope that by the time Arsenal face Liverpool they have regained the fitness to last the full 90 minutes!
