Arsenal close in on Handanovic for 10m euros

It is being reported today in Slovenia that Arsenal are close to an agreement to sign Samir Handanovic. The international keeper, who had such a good game against England at the World Cup, is reportedly close to signing a three-year contract with the Gunners, and the transfer fee will be in the region of 10m euros.

The report on the Slovenian website siol.net , also says that they have “information” that Bayern Munich have dropped their interest in the shotstopper, but Juventus maintain a possiblity of bidding against Arsenal.

The 26 year-old is currently playing for Udinese in Serie A and has two years left on his contract , which is why the price is so high, but he is also the number one Slovenian keeper and has been since 2004, so is highly experienced at international level.

I really hope that this report is true, because I really don’t think Arsenal fans could take another season with either Fabianski or Almunia between the sticks….
